Alas!
I called today to make a haircut appointment only to find that the lady who has been cutting my hair for the last year is no longer there.
I don't know if you know this about me or not, but I don't like change.
When the lady on the phone told me this sad news, I was audibly dismayed. I remember saying things like "She didn't check this with me!" and "Noooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!"
The very nice phone lady said, "Why don't you come in and I'll cut your hair myself and we'll see how it goes?" It must have been my weakened state, but I agreed.
Turns out, she's the owner of the place.
Turns out, she's been doing this for thirty years.
Turns out, she was super nice.
Turns out, I think I might be okay.
She even trimmed my goatee, which is the first time it's ever been professionally groomed.

Hey, hey! Snazzy!!
Was it weird/awkward to have someone trim your goatee? Did you feel like asking her for two Kleenexes to stuff up your nostrils so she couldn't peer up them?
hee hee

It was a little weird, but she did it so quickly that it was fine. She was very sweet in a grandmother-y way, so that made it easier, too.
I should post a picture of my haircut. I just got one too. However, for the first time in years, the person who cut it before is the same person who cut it now. Not used to the repeat, but it's good, and I'll be going back just to have her cut it.
I always have to get random people in the mall hairdressing places to cut my hair. I used to go to my mom's hairdresser but she charged sooo much I decided just to go to the cheap places.
My sister in-law is a licensed beautician, so I've been getting my hair cut/colored/trimmed/done for formal dinners/etc. for free. Normally She does the big stuff (coloring, mainly) after her shop closes, so I'll give her twenty bucks for her time. She's a great beautician, too, so I love going to her to get my hair done.
I don't know what I'll do when I leave Florida.

I'm with meags on this, I like the random mall person deal. $20 and you're done. Only I keep finding they give me different advice. Like one told me she could cut my hair so it wasn't so fluffy, the next time the woman I got said "If you're worried about fluffy, why did you have your hair cut like this??". Exciting lottery of destiny again. They never offer to do my goatee tho :(
I've been getting my hair cut by the same barber for the past 15 years. Yeah, it's gonna be odd when I have to change barbers :(
