All Of A Sudden
I knew it was too good to last. I've gone from having no neighbors to apparently having 1,000 of them. I'm not sure how they're fitting all of those people in the apartments next to mine, but I know exactly how those people are getting from wherever they go during the day to back here: in one of the 8,000 cars parked in front of my apartment.
Seriously, if I get back later than, oh, say, 7 p.m.? No place to park at all. Up until last week I could choose any of about ten spaces, and now? Nothing. I'm parking in front of apartments I didn't even know were apartments.
Grrrrrr.
Funny thing is, this is what it's taken for me to start seriously thinking about buying a house. A lack of parking. That's what it took. Even in my frustrations there's a quirk factor that can barely be believed.

That's not a surprising reason to get a house. That's one of the reasons I wish I had a whole heck of a lot of money - so I could go straight from my parents' house to my house, without the condo or apartment transition. Alas...
Oh good call G! I am seeing next New Year's Eve party at Mark's new huge house! There would be plenty of available people there to play GH with ya all night long!
That's funny about the parking frustration...I am very picky about where I park at my apartment complex. Since I have to get Connor out of the car I usually park somewhere away from other people. Then of course when I leave in the morning for work the person with the most beat up car has parked 2 inches away and I can barely get him in the back seat!!! Obviosuly I needed to vent...
Yeah, I have a huge wide garage and a small small car. You could fit 4 of my car in there. Also, BUY SOUTH BUY SOUTH!
All the cool kids DO live on the south side, amiright? And I think it's been well established that we live in the hood, so our property values couldn't possibly be negatively effected by your moving in...
In the words of Horace Greeley, "Go West, young man..."
Yeah, the housing prices are too high and the politics are too liberal, but you can't beat the weather. Today it's sunny and 74.

With the oversaturated insta-build south side neighborhoods experiencing such high foreclosure rates in recent years, it's quite likely that you could even find a place without any neighbors.
Kat kinda sounds like you're suggesting people wouldn't want to live by us, I mean Ya so occasionally we do peer out into the darkness in observance of our crazy fellow hood-rats and ok maybe we've been known to randomly knock on fellow churchies bedroom windows at all hours of the night but...well ok, maybe I wouldn't want to live by us either.
It has nothing to do with the abundance of churchies in the hood.
It has to do with the city council not doing enough planning with zoning and builders gorging unknowing buyers by convincing them to take out mortgages they can't afford on homes that are poorly constructed and won't resell at their appraisal value.
Le sigh.
As an aside ... as quiet as Marshall was when I met him the other night, it is surprising to me how active he is on the bytevibes. And funny, too!
Tall, dark, funny and ... churchie. Well, that's ALMOST how I like 'em!
